ED4D: Entrepreneurship by Diaspora 4 Development:
Promoting and facilitating diaspora entrepreneurship in Ghana and Ethiopia
The ED4D project aims at encouraging the Ghanaian and Ethiopian diasporas residing in the Netherlands, or Dutch entrepreneurs in partnership with the diaspora, to engage themselves as entrepreneurs for the development of the private sector in Ghana and Ethiopia. The project is implemented by IOM in collaboration with PUM (Netherlands Senior Experts).
With this project, IOM and PUM try to address the different challenges the diaspora face when wanting to set-up businesses and act as facilitators and coordinators at the service of the selected entrepreneurs. The entrepreneurs will be offered assistance in their journey to start up or expand businesses back home. More concretely, interested entrepreneurs will receive information about investment opportunities and procedures in Ghana or Ethiopia. A selected group of entrepreneurs will benefit from training and coaching and a final group will be given the opportunity to undertake a go and see mission to Ghana or Ethiopia. Also, guidance will be provided towards potential funding mechanisms.
